Convenience stores play an important role in our community and contribute enormously to our province's economy. The convenience store industry's 78,000 hard-working employees work around the clock to keep goods stocked in a clean and safe stores. Many of these stores are open 365 days a year. Thanks to their efforts, all residents, including remote and rural communities, are able to access fresh food and daily necessities. Last year, the government passed the Convenience Store Week Act 2021 (2021), setting the week before Labor Day each year as Convenience Store Week to confirm the important role of convenience stores.
