Ontario Combats Bullying in Schools

Every student – irrespective of their background, faith, heritage, or orientation – deserves every opportunity to succeed in and beyond the classroom.

During Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week, it has never been more important to stand with students and educators across the province against bullying.

By updating Policy/Program Memorandum No. 144 – Bullying Prevention and Intervention (PPM 144) for the first time since 2012, schools will better be able to combat bullying and hate.

The investments announced today build on our government’s commitment to make schools more inclusive and safer for everyone.

That is why under the leadership of Premier Ford, over $117,000 is being invested into organizations that champion disability inclusion, 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy, and mental health support.

The announcement of new funding builds on our government’s record investment in mental health supports for students, with over $80 million alone allocated for supports for this school year.

Our government will continue to invest in the safety and wellbeing of students as we stand in solidarity against all forms of bullying and discrimination.
