North York – On Saturday, in the riding of Don Valley North, Vincent Ke, Member of Provincial Parliament hosted his first Community Barbeque on a comfortable afternoon. The first community event hosted by Vincent Ke after his election was held at Cummer Park from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The barbeque featured performances from a wide range of artists of different cultural and stylistic backgrounds.
Vincent Ke also highlighted the work of the government over the summer. “We have ended the longest postsecondary strike in Canada’s history, and students are back in class at York University. We have replaced the CEO and Board of Hydro One and we are taking further measures to lower your hydro rates. We are working to end hallway healthcare. Importantly, our government has also committed $25 million to fight gun and gang violence in our communities. We are just getting started,” Vincent Ke said in a speech to attendees.
Vincent Ke met with residents and listened to their issues and concerns. “We had over 2,000 people attend my first community barbeque,” Vincent Ke said. “They enjoyed free food and drinks along with various performances throughout the day.”
Guests at Vincent Ke’s Community Barbeque included MPPs Aris Babikian, Billy Pang and Vijay Thanigasalam, MP Bob Saroya, Markham Regional Councillor Joe Li and Richmond Hill City Councillor Godwin Chan. Over 20 performers and entertainers from the Armenian, Chinese and Korean community entertained the crowd with cultural, musical and artistic acts during the afternoon.
Vincent Ke added, “I am here to listen to you. I am happy that my barbeque was a resounding success and I can’t wait to host my 2nd annual barbeque in 2019.”
