Ontario Parks Student Recruitment

Ministers David Piccini and Jill Dunlop invite you to promote the Ontario Parks student recruitment campaign. Ontario Parks is the largest employer of students in the province with over 1,800 students from Ontario’s Summer Employment Opportunities Program. This summer, there are between 1500-2000 open student positions at Ontario Parks across the province. Applications are now being accepted and applicants are encouraged to submit their resumes.
For the first time ever, we are advertising in six different languages across Ontario. Thank you to the many caucus members who have volunteered to film a short video promoting this great youth opportunity.
Grad Tech Ed Requirement

Today, Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, was joined by Mathew Rae, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education and Charmaine Williams, Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity, to announce our government’s implementation of a new, mandatory, technological education credit requirement for graduation to help better prepare students across our province for the jobs of tomorrow.
Beginning in 2024, this new graduation requirement is another step forward ensuring students learn the critical skills necessary to succeed.
This builds on Premier Ford and Minister Lecce’s recent announcement to create a direct path from grade 11 into apprenticeship – creating an accelerated pathway to a good paying job.
Our government is working to ensure Ontario students graduate with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. This will also help to ensure that Ontario remains a leader in innovation and technology for years to come.

Ontario Helping More Students Enter the Skilled Trades Faster

Today, our government announced we are preparing young people for in-demand and well-paying careers by allowing grade 11 students to transition to a full-time, skilled trades apprenticeship program. Upon receiving their Certificate of Apprenticeship, these young workers can apply for their Ontario Secondary School Diploma as mature students. At a time when the province continues to face historic labour shortages, this change means that more students will be able to enter the trades faster than ever before to help build Ontario.
